Brennivín 90th anniversary

At the beginning of the year, the 90th anniversary of Icelandic brennivín entering the market was celebrated. In coverage by Morgunblaðið marking this occasion, it was noted that the spirit has ever since held a steady place in the lives of Icelanders—though to varying degrees over different periods—and has had well-known admirers such as the painter Jóhannes Kjarval. In fact, its reputation has long reached beyond Iceland’s borders, and among those who have spoken openly about their admiration for it are two of the best-known rock musicians of our time: Dave Grohl and guitarist Slash.
